The fact that mana costs aren't linear means a simple formula doesn't work. It also leaves me to myself to judge how much certain effects should add or reduce to the cost, which I’m fine with, I can take decisions, it’s just that I think we would all appreciate some help from one another instead of having to search in all of the cards in Gatherer then compare them. The post is a bit old, which is why I’m asking you if you think this method is outdated, or if it was never as good as an alternate one in the first place.
